Korecky (1-1) allowed six hits in the schedule seven-inning contest, tossing Michigan's first complete game of the season. The win was Korecky's second career win and his first in five career starts. He fanned two in the game and stranded 10 runners on base.
The Wolverines scored both runs in the second inning as junior catcher David Parrish (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza HS) reached on a throwing error and DH Bobeda launched a long home run just inside the foul pole in right field. For Bobeda it was his team-leading third homer of the season, and he also leads the team with eight RBI.
RHP Brian Lowder (0-1) pitched a three-hit complete game while taking the loss for the Dukes (0-2).
The Wolverine defense collected the 16th double play of the season on a 5-4-3 effort started by freshman 3B Brock Koman (Pueblo, Colo./South HS) to end the second inning with a runner on third.
Other defensive highlights included Parrish gunning down another potential base stealer in the third and Korecky making a 1-5 play on a sacrifice bunt attempt in an inning in which he recorded the final out on a bases-loaded strikeout.
The Wolverines open a three-game weekend set in Charleston, S.C., next weekend, facing host Charleston Southern on Friday (March 10) at noon. The Wolverines face the Buccaneers again on Saturday (March 11, 3 p.m.) and then play Kent State on Sunday (March 12, 10 a.m.).
Junior RHP Vince Pistilli (Highland, Ind./Highland HS), 1-1 with a 3.09 ERA, is slated to throw the weekend opener.

Tri-captain Kevin Quinn (Midland, Mich./Midland HS) finished the spring trip with an active four-game hitting streak. Brock Koman had his four-game streak snapped vs. Duquesne.
Michigan has collected 16 double plays in nine games, compared to eight by the opposition. Michigan opponents have been able to steal just eight bases in 15 attempts. Junior 2B Scott Tousa (Dallas, Texas/Lake Highlands HS) has participated in 11 of the DPs and senior/junior SS Bill LaRosa (Rochester, Mich./Adams HS) has been involved in nine.
Michigan tossed a pair of shutouts on the spring trip for the first time since the 1985 season. The 1985 staff, which featured future Major League hurlers Scott Kamieniecki and Mike Ignasiak, had three shutouts on the spring trip to Texas and eight shutouts during the school-record 55-win season.
Among regulars with at least 18 at bats, Brock Koman (12-for-34) leads the Wolverines in hitting with a .353 batting average. He is followed by David Parrish (.300, 9-for-30), senior 3B Kevin Quinn (.278, 5-for-18), Jordan Cantalamessa (.276, 8-for-29) and Blake Rutkowski (.231, 6-for-26).
