Michigan starter and loser Rich Hill (Milton, Mass./Milton HS) allowed just two hits in the five innings and two batters that he worked. Hill (1-2) had eight strikeouts and eight walks, season highs for the Wolverines in both categories.
Toledo LF Mario Wallace was the hitting star in the win for the Rockets as he stroked a two-run single in the first inning, hit into a rare sacrifice fly double play to knock in a run in the third and doubled in an insurance run in the seventh inning. Winning pitcher Wilson allowed nine hits and fanned eight, and only one of the five runs he allowed was earned.
Michigan's junior All-America candidate David Parrish (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza HS) served as the DH in the Toledo game and went 1-for-2 with two walks and a hit by pitch, reaching base four times. He doubled in the fifth inning, his fifth double in five games, to extend his hitting streak to a career-best 14 games.
Michigan senior RF Jay Dines (Albuquerque, N.M./Sandia HS) collected the first Wolverine hit of the game with a single in the fourth inning. He advanced to second on a walk to sophomore 1B Jeff Trzos (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington HS). Dines stole third and scored on a double by freshman catcher Alex Coleman (Dallas, Texas/Lake Highlands HS).
The Wolverines scored twice in the sixth and twice in the seventh to pull within one run, but Toledo countered with two runs to match in the bottom of the sixth and seventh innings.
Dines (error by SS) and Trzos (single to left) both reached again in the sixth inning. Dines scored on a throwing error and senior/junior SS Bill LaRosa (Rochester, Mich./Adams HS) knocked in Trzos. Trzos reached base four times with a pair of singles and a pair of walks.
The Wolverines inched closer in the seventh inning as junior SS/2B Scott Tousa (Dallas, Texas/Lake Highlands HS) singled and moved to second as Parrish was hit by a pitch. Senior LF Rob Bobeda (DeWitt, Mich./DeWitt HS) dropped a bunt to third for a single and a wild throw scored two runs and Bobeda reached third base with no outs. However, Wilson retired Dines (foul out catcher), Trzos (grounder to second with drawn-in infield) and LaRosa (pop to second) to keep the lead and earn the win.
Wilson battled again in the eighth when Michigan loaded the bases with two outs, and he fanned Bobeda for his eighth strikeout of the game.
Michigan hosts Ohio State on Friday (April 14, 3 p.m.) in a single game at Ray Fisher Stadium with junior LHP Nick Alexander (Alpena, Mich./Alpena HS) listed as the probable starter. Alexander is 1-1 with a 5.48 ERA.

Michigan is adding a doubleheader with Cleveland State to the schedule on Saturday, April 22, to make up two of the three rainouts so far this season. The Wolverines and CSU Vikings will start at 1 p.m. Michigan is idle in Big Ten play that weekend due to final exams and hosts Siena Heights in a doubleheader on Sunday (April 23, 1 p.m.).
David Parrish extended his hitting streak to a career-best 14 games with a double in the fifth inning. Parrish leads the team in hitting (.360), hits (36), homers (7), RBI (25), slugging (.667) and on base percentage (.440).
Michigan's leading hitters (minimum 60 at bats) after Wednesday's game at Toledo include: David Parrish (.360, 36-for-100); freshman 1B/3B/DH Brock Koman (.308, 32-for-104), senior OF Rob Bobeda (.288, 32-for-111); junior SS/2B Scott Tousa (.266, 29-for-109) and senior 3B Kevin Quinn (.257, 19-for-74). Koman (Pueblo, Colo./South HS) did not play at Toledo, snapping his streak of consecutive starts at 29 games and leaving Bobeda as the only player to start all 30 games this season.
