CMU (38-13) scored three times in the third inning off Michigan starter and loser Kirk Taylor (Farmington Hills, Mich./North Farmington HS). CMU freshman DH Mike Galloway, who led the Chippewas with three hits, had a two-run single in the winning rally in the third inning.
Taylor worked six innings and allowed nine hits and four runs as his record dropped to 2-1. Sophomore RHP Ryan Krueger, the second of the six CMU pitchers, worked three innings for the win (3-0).
Junior SS Scott Tousa (Dallas, Texas/Lake Highlands HS) singled in the third inning to extend his hitting streak to 13 games, and it was the first Wolverine hit of the game. The only inning Michigan had two runners on base was the third as Tousa singled with two outs after freshman CF Gino Lollio (Cape Coral, Fla./Mariner HS) had reached on an error. Freshman 2B Jordan Cantalamessa (Englewood, Colo./Cherry Creek HS) struck out to end the third.
Michigan had two hits in the fourth inning on singles by junior DH David Parrish (Yorba Linda, Calif./Esperanza HS) and redshirt freshman 1B Mike Sokol (Sterling Heights, Mich./DeLaSalle HS), but freshman 3B Brock Koman (Pueblo, Colo./South HS) hit into a double play in between the singles.
Michigan was limited to two singles over the last five innings, by freshman catcher Alex Coleman (Dallas, Texas/Lake Highland HS) in the fifth inning and Koman in the ninth.
Michigan opens the final Big Ten Conference series of the season this Friday (May 12, 3 p.m.) vs. Iowa with junior LHP Nick Alexander (Alpena, Mich./Alpena HS) on the mound with his 3-2 record and team-leading 3.29 ERA.

Eighth-place Michigan (8-16 Big Ten) needs to win all four games vs. Iowa and have sixth-place Northwestern (11-13) lose four games at home to Penn State to make the playoffs. However, Iowa (9-15) in seventh place also has designs on catching the Wildcats. The six-team Big Ten Tournament starts Wednesday, May 17, at the site of the regular-season champion. Minnesota (19-5) enters the final weekend of the season in first place.
Junior 2B Scott Tousa's third-inning single extended his hitting streak to 13 games. Tousa has hits in 21 of his last 22 games.
David Parrish and Scott Tousa remain tied as the team hit leaders with 58. Senior OF Rob Bobeda (DeWitt, Mich./DeWitt HS) is third with 54 and freshman 3B Brock Koman (50) joined the 50-hit club with his ninth-inning single vs. CMU.
Michigan's leading hitters (minimum 110 plate appearances) after Wednesday's game vs. Central Michigan include: David Parrish (.360, 58-for-161); junior SS/2B Scott Tousa (.320, 58-for-181); Senior OF Rob Bobeda (.312, 54-for-173); freshman 1B/3B/DH Brock Koman (.299, 50-for-167) and senior 3B Kevin Quinn (.292, 35-for-120).
