| | Grech stopped all four of UK's shots on goal in the second half. |
Five minutes after Crumpton's opportunity, Kentucky struck for the game's lone goal. Celebrating Senior Night, two Kentucky seniors combined to set up the Wildcats' goal at 32:58. Senior Jami Fritter passed the ball through the midfield to classmate Christal Mattingly, who sent a long ball down the field. Danielle Slupski then shot the ball into the net for the game-winner, her first goal of the season.
Kentucky then took control of the game, attacking Michigan's net throughout the rest of the contest. The Wildcats built a 14-3 shot advantage in the second half with the help of a quick flurry to begin the frame. With three minutes elapsed, Slupski lauched a shot that was deflected off a Michigan defender for a corner. The subsequent corner kick found the head of Erin Witchey and hit the crossbar. Witchey then rebounded her own header and shot the ball at the crossbar a second time. Unable to clear the ball, Grech was able to force Witchey's third shot out of bounds. The outburst was dispersed when Grech was able to make a clean save on Jen Weakley's attempt following the second corner kick.
The Wolverines will travel to East Lansing, Mich., next weekend (Nov. 7-10) for the Big Ten Conference Tournament, hosted by Michigan State. Michigan's seeding and opponent for Thursday's (Nov. 7) first round game will be settled following the completion of the remaining Big Ten matchup between Purdue and Illinois on Sunday (Nov. 3).

U-M Head Coach Debbie Rademacher
On her impressions of the game ... "We just didn't play well at all. We had trouble possessing the ball and we couldn't get anything set in their zone. During the last 15 minutes we were in their end and had opportunities but we couldn't finish."
On Kentucky ... "They're a good team. I think that is pretty obvious, but they weren't head and shoulders above any of the other competition we've had this year. They had a bunch of shots and one or two really good scoring opportunities -- the one they got the goal on and then the corner-kick chance in the second half that hit the crossbar. They're an athletic, quick team. They beat us to the ball tonight and they got the best of us."
On finding some bright spots ... "Well, toward the end of the game, in the last 15 minutes, we were able to put some pressure on them. Abby (Crumpton) had a bunch of good runs and some opportunities. Andrea (Kayal) had an opportunity in front of the net toward the end, but you can't play that way and expect to win. You need to put out a strong 90 minutes."
