The Wolverines (3-12) and Iowa Hawkeyes (6-8) will now play a pair of doubleheaders -- two seven-inning games -- on Saturday (March 30, 1 p.m.) and Sunday (March 31, 1 p.m.) to get the four games played in the three-day window of opportunity. The teams were originally scheduled to play nine-inning games on Friday and Sunday, with Saturday doubleheader in between.
It is Michigan's third consecutive game called due to poor weather conditions, following games at Kansas (March 24) and at home against Western Michigan (March 27).
Senior RHP Bobby Korecky (Saline, Mich./Saline HS), the scheduled Friday starter, and junior LHP Rich Hill (Milton, Mass./Milton HS), the original first-game starter for Saturday, are Michigan's probable starting pitchers Saturday. Korecky is 1-2 (7.28 ERA) and Hill is 0-2 (6.32).
Sophomore RHP Jim Brauer (Carmel, Ind./Carmel HS), the original Saturday second-game starter, and senior LHP Jeff Trzos (Farmington, Mich./North Farmington HS) are the probables for Sunday's twinbill. Brauer is 1-2 (6.43) and Trzos is 0-3 (8.71).
