Q U O T E S
Head Coach Kathy Teichert
On the team's finish at the Mary Fossum Invitational ... "We had aspirations of finishing in the top three. That didn't happen, but we were only a few strokes away from being right in there. Those missed opportunities separated us from achieving our goal. We made some errors early, but we got right in there as the round went on. It just was a miss here and a miss there along with some three-putts. We just need to keep playing and keep working on our goals and expectations. We are not that far away."
On the weather affecting the final round ... "I don't think it really affected the final round that much. We are not quite used to it yet and people may have been a little bit tighter at the start, but once they got into their swings it was not a factor. It just got colder and colder as the day went on. Everyone is different, but from what I saw it really didn't change things."
Sophomore Laura Olin
On her tournament finish ... "I think I had a good tournament. My mistakes today and most of the weekend were putting. This course is a great course, but it can be tough. It is long and the greens are hard, but everyone had to play in the same conditions. I had five doubles (bogeys) and you just can't do that. You can recover from a bogey with a birdie, but five doubles means two birdies for each one and that is something you just can't do in order to compete. I know that I can do better than I have been. I am really close."
On the team improving off of the Fossum Invitational ... "We just need to continue to improve off our mistakes. How can we do that All of the mistakes are correctable and those can get worked out in practice. After we put in some good practice time and work on the things we need to work on we should be able to improve before we go out next week. But overall we are not that far away."
Fifth-Year Senior Stephanie Stasik
On the Wolverines' finish ... "Overall I thought it was a good tournament. Forest Akers was in great shape and when it is in good conditions like it was, it becomes a tough course. The pins today were very challenging. We made some mistakes today, but I think if everyone keeps plugging away we will be right in the thick of things. We always want to do better, but we were not that disappointed with the tournament. We know what we need to work on and we will do so."
On her tournament ... "I hit a lot of greens, but with the challenging pins and some misreads on my part, I just didn't putt very well. I had one birdie in 54 holes. I should be making more. I was playing really consistently, but I just need to work on my putting, which is something I am going to do as soon as we get back."
