Brown Named CWPA Southern Division Player of the Week

NORRISTOWN, Pa. -- The Collegiate Water Polo Association announced Thursday (April 3) that University of Michigan sophomore Erin Brown (San Diego, Calif./Bishop's HS) earned the CWPA's Southern Division Player of the Week accolade for her performance during the week of March 24-March 30.

Against Slippery Rock, Brown recorded her second hat trick of the season with three goals. She also notched two assists and a pair of steals. Brown scored once with one assist and two drawn ejections against Gannon and then scored two more times against Mercyhurst. Brown finished the weekend with a career-high four-goal performance against Washington & Jefferson and added one assist, one steal and one drawn ejection.
Brown has recorded three hat tricks this season and six in her career. This season she is first among Wolverines with 17 assists and fourth with 18 goals. She is also Michigan's career leader with 41 assists and is the first Wolverine to top the 40-assist mark in her career.
Brown was an Eastern Championships and a Southern Division first team member last season, but this is the first time she had won a Player of the Week award.
No. 12 Michigan, 14-8 overall, will travel to Tempe, Ariz., to compete in the Arizona State Desert Challenge on Saturday and Sunday (April 5-6).
