ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The 15th-ranked University of Michigan softball team, which had both of its games vs. Iowa this past weekend (April 4-5) cancelled due to inclement weather, has also postponed tomorrow's (Tuesday, April 8) regularly scheduled home doubleheader vs. Central Michigan. The twinbill has been rescheduled for Wednesday (April 9) beginning at 4 p.m. at Alumni Field.
The doubleheader will provide Michigan coach Carol Hutchins an opportunity to become the 14th coach in NCAA Division I history to reach 800 career wins. Hutchins currently has 798 victories.
The schedule change and 4 p.m. doubleheader start on Wednesday could also provide the Wolverines their first chance to play under lights at Alumni Field. Temporary lights were brought in for last season's NCAA Regional, which was hosted and won by the Wolverines, before permanent lights were put in place prior to the start of the 2003 season. U-M's first-ever night game at Alumni Field was originally scheduled for April 26 (6 p.m.) vs. Purdue.
