SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic -- Three members of the United States women's field hockey team with University of Michigan ties -- former player Kelli Gannon (1997-2000), volunteer assistant coach Tracey Fuchs and former assistant coach Peggy Storrar -- have been key components in helping the U.S. to the Pan American Games gold medal match, scheduled for Wednesday evening (Aug. 13) against Argentina at the Parque del Este in Santo Domingo.

Fuchs, Gannon and Storrar have started all four matches for the Americans during their run to the gold medal match. Fuchs, who has been on the national team since 1987, leads the team with seven goals, while Gannon, who has been on the squad since 2001, has netted a pair of markers. Storrar, in her ninth year on the team, has backstopped the U.S. during the Pan Am Games, allowing only one goal in four appearances.
The winner of Wednesday's gold-medal match will also receive an automatic berth in the 2004 Olympic Games as the continental champion. The 2004 Olympics are scheduled for Aug. 13-29 in Athens, Greece.
