Athletes are eligible for both awards if they play a significant role on the team and have a minimum of a 3.2 GPA. Both the AWPCA and the CWPA recognize three levels of academic achievement. Athletes with GPAs ranging between 3.2 and 3.4 are awarded excellent honors, athletes between 3.41 and 3.7 are awarded superior honors and athletes 3.71 and above are awarded the outstanding distinction.
For the Wolverines, Warner is the only player to reach the outstanding tier. This is her first year as a recipient of the awards. Ellison and Nisbet achieved superior recognition, earning their first and fourth awards, respectively. Burkons, Hitchcock and Shibuya all earned the excellent award. For Burkons and Shibuya, this is their third consecutive year being recognized, while it is the first for Hitchcock.
