Michigan Coach Kathy Teichert
On her feelings after the tournament win ... "I feel great. I feel awesome. I am speechless because it is great to come back to my alma mater and once again prove that Michigan does have a good team and that we should not be taken lightly. This team is a special team this year and I am looking to every drive, putt and winning victory that we can possibly get. I am looking at the moment. I am enjoying this victory. We are going to enjoy for the rest of the day and until we get back."
On the win for Brianna Broderick ... "Bri had an excellent tournament. To come home with not only a team championship, but an individual champion, it says a lot about our program. I am so proud of these girls and I am really happy for Bri. It is an extension of her summer play. She is developing that confidence that she needs to take her game to the next level."
On some of the mental mistakes ... "We have to have someone playing well each week. It has to be a team member. If one is not playing well we need to have someone pick it up. We made a lot of mental mistakes today. Winning this tournament is a great feeling and was a wonderful accomplishment. However, we didn't play as well as I know we can play and that I felt we could play. We cannot be expected to have any numbers count in the 80s to be able to have the caliber of team we expect to have come national time. That is what is going to make or break us getting into the national championships and that is what are goal is."
Sophomore Brianna Broderick
On winning her first collegiate tournament ... "It feels great. It really does. It's great to be a Michigan Wolverine. My game is coming around. I did have a pretty good summer. My practice is paying off and I'm lucky enough to have teammates that push me. They push hard."
On the back-to-back tournament titles ... "A bunch of the girl's have been saying that you cannot win them all if you don't win the first two. So far we have two. Winning them has really shown that are hard work is really starting to pay off. All we can really do is continue to work hard and good things will to happen for this team."
Senior Laura Olin
On getting the Mary Fossum title ... "What makes me feel the best about this win is that we feel, as a team, we did not play up to our potential at all. Even though we did not play that great we still won and that speaks a lot about this team. Brianna was just fabulous. She carried us through this tournament. It is very, very fun to come out here and have other people play well. I will be the first to admit I did not play up to my potential, but the other girls really stepped it up and we came away with the victory."
On the start and the next two weeks before the Wolverines next tournament action ... "These past two weeks have just been so exciting. We worked hard in the summer and to come out like this is great. I think the next two weeks (with no tournaments) will be good for us. It gives us a chance to work on the little things that we have not executed out on the course.
Junior/Sophomore Molly Spalding
On her last two weeks of golf ... "I was excited to get the opportunity to play in the last two tournaments. Last weekend, I just wanted to go out there and show coach what I could do. This weekend, I got another chance to play, so I had the same goal. I am here, top six, but not quite in the lineup. So, I just wanted to play well and that is what I did."
On what has been the difference from this year compared to last ... "Maybe my focus is there a little more. In fact, maybe I have been a little more determined out there. I know now what I need to do and how I need to swing. I know how to fix my swing. It is just a matter of doing it."
