CHAMPAIGN, Ill. -- University of Michigan junior 2B Chris Getz (Grosse Pointe, Mich./South HS), who hit .533 (8-for-15) in Big Ten Baseball Tournament play, and fifth-year senior RHP Jim Brauer (Carmel, Ind./Carmel HS), who allowed just five hits and two unearned runs in the 13-inning loss to eventual playoff champ Ohio State, were both named to the all-tournament team.
For Getz, a two-time All-Big Ten first team second baseman, it is his second straight all-tournament selection. In two Big Ten Tournaments Getz has hit .567 with 17 hits in 30 at-bats with five doubles, a homer, six RBI and a seven-game hit streak. He has had six multiple-hit games and four three-hit games in Big Ten Tournament play.
Brauer, the 2005 Big Ten Pitcher of the Year, dropped his ERA to 2.34 while earning his first all-tournament selection. In the past two tournaments Brauer was 1-0, allowing just two earned runs in 19 innings, all against Ohio State, for a 0.95 ERA.
Fifth seed Ohio State captured the Big Ten Tournament title by beating sixth seed Minnesota 14-6 in Sunday's (May 29) championship contest to earn the Big Ten's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
