ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan head baseball coach Rich Maloney has announced plans for the fourth Baseball Alumni Weekend of his tenure for Oct. 1-2 featuring a Saturday (Oct. 1) golf outing with breakfast and baseball action on Sunday (Oct. 2). The events of the weekend are open to baseball alumni, friends and members of the public.
"Our goal is to bring back as many former Wolverine baseball players as we can from all eras. This is our fourth reunion weekend since I've been here, and it is great to get the former players back to Fisher Stadium," said Maloney.
The golf activities this year will be at Stonebridge Golf Club (1825 Clubhouse Dr. in Ann Arbor; directions available at www.stonebridgegolfclub.net). Registration will start at the clubhouse at 8:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 10:30 a.m. There will be lunch at the turn of the 18-hole event and dinner in the clubhouse starting at approximately 4 p.m.
The cost of $125 per person covers 18 holes of golf, lunch, dinner and prizes that could be won during the day. Each foursome gets two carts, while additional carts are $15. Dinner-only guests will be charged $30.
Sponsoring opportunities include an individual a hole for $150 or $250 for two holes.
Sunday (Oct. 2) activities open with a breakfast buffet ($5) at Michael's Chophouse in the Four Points Sheraton in Ann Arbor (3200 Boardwalk, 734-996-0600) from 8 to 9 a.m. The baseball action at legendary Ray Fisher Stadium will feature a "Home Run Derby" at 10:30 a.m. followed by an alumni game with the format depending upon the number of "alumni players" available.
