September 2006 -- Former Wolverine All-American Kristi Gannon, who currently serves as the U-M volunteer coach, was added to the USA's World Cup squad after injury sidelined teammate Lauren Crandall. A three-year member of the USA National Team, Gannon boasts 45 international caps and a pair of international goals. Gannon will join the team just a day before the USA opens play at the World Cup.[USA Field Hockey Release]
September 2006 -- Former Michigan All-American April Fronzoni was added to the final 18-player USA rosterfor the 2006 Samsung World Cup. A three-year member of the USA National Team, Fronzoni provides the USA with additional speed and quickness at the forward position as well as another goal-scoring threat. Fronzoni has collected 9 goals in 38 international appearances.It will be her first career appearance at the World Cup.[USA Field Hockey Release]
August 2006 --Incoming freshman Paige Laytos was selected to the USA Under-21 team just prior to her arrival in Ann Arbor, becoming the the 15th Wolverine to earn junior-team selection and the eighth over the last six years. [Full Release]
July 2006 --Michigan associate head coach Tracey Fuchswasnamed to theU.S. women's national team coaching staff of the World Cup, serving as an assistant to head coach Lee Bodimeade.Fuchs will be with the national team for part of the AstroTurf March on Madrid Four Nation Tournament (Aug. 17-20) and will rejoin the team in final preparations for the World Cup in Madrid.[USA Field Hockey Release]
May 2006 -- As members of the USA Field Hockey national team, former Wolverine standouts April Fronzoni and Kristi Gannon contributed toa fourth-place USA finish at the World Cup Qualifying Tournament, held April 25-May 6 in Rome, Italy. Both Wolverines earned considerable playing time and Fronzoni notched a first-half tally in a 4-2 victory against Azerbaijan as the U.S. squad posted a 3-3-1 en route to qualifying for the Women's World Cup, scheduled for Sept. 27-Oct. 7 in Madrid.Check out full results atUSA Field Hockey's site.
September 2005 -- Senior captain Lori Hillman and assistant coach Tracey Fuchs lent a strong Wolverine connection to the USA Under-21 field hockey team at the 2005 Junior World Cup, held Sept. 14-25, in Santiago, Chile. The team finished with a 4-2-2 record. [Recap]
March 2005 -- Lori Hillman and Mary Fox helped the USA Under-21 team capture the silver medal at the 2005 Pan Am Junior Games in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Hillman scored the lone U.S. goal in the 3-1 loss to Argentina in the championship match. [Recap]
