ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's water polo head coach Matt Anderson has announced the signing of Farren Rixter (Oak Park, Ill./Fenwick) for the 2007 water polo season.
"I am excited that Farren decided to stay home in the Midwest," Anderson said. "She had the opportunity to go to many schools but decided to further cultivate her water polo career where it began. She brings athletic ability to the center position and should contribute beginning in her freshman season."
Rixter led her team to three state championships in four seasons at Fenwick High School, scoring the game-winner in the championship final contest as a sophomore. She also garnered first-team all-state her junior and senior seasons after earning second-team all-state honors as a sophomore.
The 2005 Illinois Player of the Year and 2006 Illinois Offensive Player of the Year, Rixter competed on the Junior National team (20-and-under) in the summer of 2005.
