
Four Players, Team Earn CWPA All-Academic Honors

BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- The Collegiate Water Polo Association announced its selections for the 2008 Women's All-Academic team Monday (June 16), acknowledging the classroom achievements of the University of Michigan women's water polo team and four of its players. The CWPA awards a team for earning a 2.75 or higher GPA and awards an individual athlete for earning a 3.20 GPA or higher.
Junior Carrie Stover(Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) earned her first Outstanding (3.71 to 4.0 GPA) distinction after claiming Superior (3.41 to 3.70 GPA) honors during her first two seasons. Senior Michelle Keeley(Rockford, Mich./Rockford) wraps up her career having earned the CWPA All-Academic accolades in each of her three years as she was tabbed with Superior honors. A pair of freshmen were also recognized with Alison Mantel(Miami, Fla./Gulliver) earning Superior honors and Cara Reitz(Miami, Fla./Gulliver) taking home an Excellent (3.20 to 3.40 GPA) distinction.
The program also earned a team laurel in recognition of its strong academic performance across the entire roster.
Michigan used a program record 34 wins to finish the season ranked 10th nationally. The Wolverines finished sixth at the NCAA Championship after claiming both the CWPA Western Division Championship and CWPA Eastern Championship.
