Postgame Notes: Northwestern 63, Michigan 59

• Michigan is now 23-35 all-time against Northwestern with tonight's loss. Northwestern has won the last two meetings between the teams.
• The Wolverines move to 4-8 in Big Ten home openers and prior to tonight's loss, U-M had won its two previous home openers.
• The Wolverines snapped a five-game win streak with tonight's loss and dropped their first game in Crisler Arena this season.
• Michigan and Northwestern played each other exactly one year ago today. In last season's Big Ten home opener, Michigan defeated Northwestern, 66-54, at Crisler.
• Former Wolverine Stephany Skrba, who is currently playing professionally in Spain, was in attendance. Skrba played for the Wolverines from 2006-09 and led Michigan to an upset win over then-No. 8 Notre Dame last season.
• Michigan trailed at halftime for only the second time this season. Michigan also trailed against Marquette at halftime but pulled out a 65-50 win on Nov. 16.
• Junior guard Veronica Hicks (Chicago, Ill/Thornwood) was in double figures for the 11th time this season with her career-best 23 points. It is her second 20+ point game this season; she also scored 21 points against Kansas, which was her previous career high. She has scored in double figures in 11 of U-M's 12 games this season.
• Senior center Krista Phillips (Saskatoon, Saskatchewan/Aden Bowman Collegiate) tallied her first double-double of the season with 14 points and 11 rebounds. It was her second consecutive game with double-figure rebounds this season; she also had 13 rebounds against Detroit. Additionally, she has registered double-figure scoring in six of Michigan's last seven games.
• With her 11 rebounds tonight, Phillips now has 531 career rebounds and needs 89 more rebounds to move into the Top 10 all-time at U-M.
• Michigan has had double-figure assists in each game this season and for the second consecutive game failed to reach double figures in steals.
• The Wolverines were outrebounded for the first time in two games, including outrebounding nationally-ranked Xavier in an upset win on Dec. 14.
