
Robertson Tabbed CWPA MVP, Anderson Coach of the Year

COLLEGE PARK, Md. -- Senior Leah Robertson (Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) and head coach Matt Anderson headlined honorees from the No. 7-ranked University of Michigan water polo team at the CWPA Eastern Championship awards banquet on Friday evening (April 30), taking home the Western Division Player and Coach of the Year awards, respectively. Five Wolverines took home all-division hardware as Robertson, freshman Alex Adamson (Coronado, Calif./Coronado), junior Alison Mantel (Miami, Fla./Gulliver), and junior Lauren Orth (Poway, Calif./Poway) earned first team selections and sophomore Meagan Cobb (Hudsonville, Mich./Hudsonville) was named a second team honoree.
Robertson became the fourth Wolverine to earn Most Valuable Player accolades and collected her third CWPA All-Western Division first team honor. Despite battling injuries all season, Robertson put together her third straight 50-point season, tallying 39 goals and 14 assists. The program leader in steals averaged 2.5 steals per game and registered multiple goals in 10 of her 20 games played this season.

Mantel is on pace to lead the Wolverines in goals and points for the second straight season, denting the twine 50 times and adding a team-leading 42 assists to her resume. She became just the third Wolverine in program history to score 50 goals twice in her career. She was named a CWPA All-Western Division second team selection during her sophomore campaign.
Orth proved to be a big-game player for the Wolverines in her junior campaign, scoring the game-winner against No. 3-ranked Indiana in front of a national television audience, notching four assists in each game against a ranked Hartwick and playmakers (three assists) against a pair top-three teams. She has tallied 35 goals and 32 assists, both career highs, for her first all-division selection.
After battling sickness that kept her out of the pool for the first two weeks of the season, Cobb returned to the lineup and averaged a goal per game, amassing 28 goals and one assist in 28 games this season. She is a first time all-division selection.
Anderson was named Western Division Coach of the Year for the fifth time in his career and the second consecutive season. Anderson has guided this season's Wolverines to the fourth 30-plus win season in program history and is trying to become the first coach in the modern era to lead a CWPA team to three straight NCAA Championship bids.
