BRIDGEPORT, Pa. -- Senior Leah Robertson (Newport Beach, Calif./Newport Harbor) and freshman Alex Adamson (Coronado, Calif./Coronado) of the No. 7-ranked University of Michigan water polo team were named CWPA Western Division Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, the conference office announced today (Tuesday, May 4). The two All-Western Division first team selections helped the Wolverines complete their third straight CWPA Eastern Championship title run.
Robertson tallied 11 points over the weekend, becoming the program leader in points at the CWPA Eastern Championship with 31 career points. Robertson also earned 10 drawn ejections and pulled eight steals at the conference tournament. She has now collected 10 CWPA Player of the Week awards, tying her with Julie Hyrne (2006-09) for the most by a Wolverine all-time.
Adamson made 23 saves in the cage, playing all but four minutes in her CWPA Eastern Championship debut. She got better as the tournament went on, holding Indiana to five goals in the final on Sunday (May 2).
The Wolverines return to the national tournament for the third consecutive year and will play California on Friday (May 14) at 5:45 p.m. PDT in the opening round of the NCAA Championship in San Diego, Calif.
