
Mantel, Reitz Named ACWPC All-Academic

DENVER, Colo.-- Rising seniors Alison Mantel (Miami, Fla./Gulliver) and Cara Reitz (Miami, Fla./Gulliver) of the University of Michigan water polo team were recognized with All-Academic honors from the Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches today (Thursday, July 1). The Wolverine duo is among a Collegiate Water Polo Association record 89 honorees.
An environment and economics major, Mantel earned Superior (3.41 to 3.7 GPA) honors for the third consecutive season. The Wolverines' top scorer in 2010, Mantel posted 106 points for the third-best single-season total in program history. Reitz is also a three-time winner, claiming Excellent (3.20 to 3.40 GPA) designation as an anthropology major for the third time in her career. A Wolverine captain, Reitz set career highs in goals (39), points (56) and steals (59) in 2010.
Michigan finished the 2010 season with a 33-8 record, establishing a new program record for winning percentage (.805) and fewest losses (8) while clinching a third straight conference crown.
