ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan baseball team's three-game series at Stanford (Fri-Sat., March 18-19) has been canceled due to a threat of heavy rain and thunderstorms both days in Palo Alto, Calif.
Michigan was scheduled to head to Palo Alto, Calif., tomorrow morning with the series starting on Friday night at 6 p.m. PDT. However, there is an 80-percent chance of rain for Friday with the possibility of 40-mile-per-hour wind, possible hail and rainfall up to two inches. The forecast does not get much better for Saturday as there is a 70-percent chance of rain with highs in the upper 50s.
U-M will now gear up for its 2011 home opener at the Wilpon Baseball Complex, home of Ray Fisher Stadium. The Maize and Blue hosts Michigan State on Friday, March 25, at 5 p.m. The Wolverines then head to East Lansing, Mich., for a 1:05 p.m. game on Saturday (March 26) and return to Ann Arbor for the series finale Sunday, March 27, at 1 p.m.
