The Wolverines, who won the CWPA Western Division yesterday (Saturday, April 9), were a perfect 10-0 against conference teams and will likely be the top seed at the CWPA Eastern Championship, to be held April 29-May 1 in Bloomington, Ind.
Junior Morgan Turner (Mission Viejo, Calif./Trabuco Hills) made 11 blocks against George Washington, following up on a seven-save performance from sophomore Alex Adamson (Coronado, Calif./Coronado) against the Crimson.
Sophomore Lauren Colton (Tustin, Calif./Tesoro) scored five goals on the day and junior Claire Ivry (Orinda, Calif./Miramonte) tallied even points (three goals, four assists). Sophomore Ryanne O'Donnell (Northbrook, Ill./New Trier) had a game-high three steals against the Colonials.
The Wolverines took a 10-6 lead over Harvard through the first two periods with nine different players finding the back of the cage. Colton completed her hat trick as the U-M lead swelled to 13-9 in the third period. U-M cruised to victory following a quiet final frame.
Six different Wolverines scored twice in the defeat of the Colonials in the second game of the day. Ivry scored three times and had two assists to pace the U-M offense. Meanwhile, freshmen Lauren Dudley (Okemos, Mich./Okemos) and Hathaway Moore (Atherton, Calif./Saint Francis) each tallied a pair of goals and pulled two steals.
Michigan will put the wraps on the 2011 regular season next weekend (Sat-Sun., April 16-17).
