
Michigan Hits 30-Win Plateau with Two Decisive Victories

CLAREMONT, Calif. -- The No. 6-ranked University of Michigan water polo team reached the 30-win plateau for the fourth consecutive season with victories over Pomona-Pitzer, 17-3, and Fresno Pacific, 18-6, on Sunday (April 17) at Haldeman Pool.
Senior Sarah Roberts (Costa Mesa, Calif./Newport Harbor), who scored six times against Pomona-Pitzer, was one of five Wolverines with hat tricks. Sophomore Kiki Golden (Danville, Calif./Monte Vista) and freshmen Lauren Dudley (Okemos, Mich./Okemos), Katy Feaver (San Diego, Calif./Bishop's) and Sophie Høegh (Coral Gables, Fla./Ransom Everglades) also each had a three-goal game today.
Sophomore Alex Adamson (Coronado, Calif./Coronado) started both games and made seven saves on the day. Junior Morgan Turner (Mission Viejo, Calif./Trabuco Hills) played the backend of both contests, making 11 saves in four periods of work.
Roberts' six goals led the Wolverines offensively against the host Sagehens. Feaver was not far off the senior's pace, tallying four points on a pair of goals and two assists. On the defensive side of the ball, sophomore Natalie Naruns (Los Altos, Calif./St. Francis) notched a career-high three steals to go with two assists.
Dudley took control of the Michigan offense against Fresno Pacific, denting the twine three times and setting up two more Wolverine scores. Junior Claire Ivry (Orinda, Calif./Miramonte) also had a big game, contributing two goals and two assists.
Michigan will now turn its focus to the CWPA Eastern Championship (April 29-May 1) in Bloomington, Ind. The Wolverines, which have won the last three CWPA crowns, are seeking the conference's automatic bid to the NCAA Championship, held May 13-15 at Canham Natatorium.

Michigan reached 30 wins for the fourth consecutive season, giving the Class of 2011 a hand in four of U-M's five 30-win campaigns. They are the winningest class in program history with a 132-32 record.
Senior Sarah Roberts tallied six goals against Pomona-Pitzer, making her the 15th Wolverine to reach the 100-career goals plateau.
Roberts' six-goal outburst against Pomona-Pitzer represents a new career high. Her previous best of five markers came against Gannon at the 2010 CWPA Western Division Championship.
Senior Lauren Orth extended her point streak to 40 games with a two goals and an assist on the day. During the span, which dates back to last season, Orth has tallied 56 goals and 42 assists.
