Michigan's 7-20 start is the slowest since the 1993 Wolverine squad opened the year 7-24.
Michigan head coach Rich Maloney had his record in Big Ten road opener's drop to 5-4 in his nine seasons with the Wolverines.
Michigan has been shut out twice in 2011, both by 8-0 scores, with the first at Sam Houston State on Mar. 6.
Sophomore CF Patrick Biondi, who is hitting .283 (32-for-113), was 3-for-5 with a triple and two stolen bases. Biondi led off the first inning with a single, stole second and third base and he tripled with two outs in the fifth inning as he was the only Wolverine to reach third base in the game.
Biondi's three-hit game was his second of the season and ninth of his U-M career. He leads the team with 10 multi-hit games this season with 31 career multi-hit games.
Biondi, who ranks second on the team with 13 stolen bases, snapped his tie for 10th place on Michigan's career stolen base list at 40 steals with Steve Buerkel (40, 1989-92). With 42 career stolen bases, including 29 in 2010, Biondi is two steals shy of a three-way tie for seventh on U-M's career steals list with current Major Leaguer Chris Getz (44, 2004-05), former Major League MVP Barry Larkin (44, 1983-85) and All-American Mike Watters (44, 1983-85).
Freshman OF/RHP Alex Lakatos, who is hitting .325 (15-for-46), was 1-for-4 as the starting DH with a sixth-inning single to extend his career-best hitting streak to six games.
Senior/junior 1B Garrett Stephens, who is hitting .237 (22-for-93), was 1-for-3 and he reached base twice. His second-inning single extended his current hit streak to three games.
Freshman RF Michael O'Neill, who is hitting .299 (32-for-107), was 0-for-4, but he collected his team-leading 14th stolen base after reaching base on a first-inning throwing error. O'Neill has hits in 23 of his 27 games this season.
Junior catcher/DH Coley Crank, who is hitting .247 (23-for-93) was 0-for-4 as he had his hitting streak snapped at seven games.
