Michigan's five-pitcher shutout over Central Michigan Wednesday was the second straight for the Wolverines and the third of the season. The last back-to-back shutouts for the Wolverines were recorded May 12 and 13, 2006 vs. Penn State (7-0 and 2-0).
Sophomore LF Zach Zott, who is hitting .350 (21-for-60), was 2-for-4 with a run-scoring triple in the first inning to extend his career-best hitting streak to nine games.
Zott's first inning RBI triple proved to be his second game-winning RBI this week and his second career 'gamer' as a Wolverine.
Zott has seven multi-hit games this season and 12 in his U-M career. Zott has all seven of his 2013 multi-hit games in his current nine-game hitting streak, including five consecutive two-hit games.
Junior OF Michael O'Neill, who is hitting .381 (45-for-118) to lead the team, was 2-for-3 with two singles, a sac fly, one RBI and a run scored.
O'Neill has hits in 24 of the 27 games this season and 28 of his last 31 games.
O'Neill leads the team with 16 multi-hit games this season and has 48 career multiple-hit games. O'Neill has collected 16 multiple-hit games in each of his three seasons as a Wolverine.
Freshman 2B/RHP Jacob Cronenworth, who is hitting .350 (35-for-100), was 2-for-4 with a fifth-inning single to extend his season/career-best hitting streak to 12 games. He had two singles and his seventh stolen base of the year.
Cronenworth, who leads the team with 20 RBI, is second of the team with nine multi-hit games.
Sophomore RF Kevin White, who is hitting .270 (20-for-74) was 1-for-2 with a double, two walks, two runs scored and a stolen base. White has eight stolen bases in 2013.
Sophomore RHP James Bourque (2-4, 5.13 ERA) worked three scoreless innings, allowing one hit and recording five strikeouts as he snapped a personal four-game losing streak. Bourque (4-5) has four career wins as a Wolverine.
