PORT ST. LUCIE, Fla. -- The University of Michigan baseball team fell in the first of a four-game series to Princeton, 7-3, Friday afternoon (March 7) at Tradition Field, snapping its two-game winning streak.

Freshman Ramsey Romano (El Cajon, Calif./Valhalla) and sophomore Travis Maezes (Ann Arbor, Mich./Pioneer) had two hits apiece for the Maize and Blue, which did not get its first hit until the sixth inning.

Princeton put up a four-spot in the top of the second, highlighted by a two-run double from Danny Baer. The Tigers added a pair of unearned runs in the fifth on a pair of Wolverine errors.

Michigan scored three runs in the sixth. Romano ended Michael Fagan's no-hit bid with a single, putting runners on first and second. Maezes followed with a double that scored a run. Junior Zach Zott (Lake Orion, Mich./Lake Orion) then laid down a bunt single that scored two runs, cutting the lead to 6-3. Princeton tacked on a run in the top of the eighth for the final scoring margin.

Junior Trent Szkutnik (Temperance, Mich./Bedford) was tagged with the loss, allowing five hits, two earned runs with a pair of strikeouts and a pair of walks. Classmate Donnie Eaton (Ann Arbor, Mich./Father Gabriel Richard) had six strikeouts in 2.2 innings of relief. Fagan struck out 10 in six innings to get the win for Princeton.

Michigan and Princeton will play a doubleheader Saturday morning (March 8) starting at 11 a.m. at Tradition Field #5 in Port St. Lucie, Fla.
