Today's matchup marked the 200th meeting between Michigan and Purdue. U-M leads the all-time series with Purdue, 141-59, and has won six of the last eight meetings.
Freshman Jake Bivens extended his reached-base streak to 22 games with his single up the middle to lead off the sixth inning.
Michigan extends its record to 17-6 when scoring first and 9-6 when scoring in the first inning.
Michigan pitchers combined for 14 strikeouts this afternoon, just one shy of the season high, set on Feb. 21 vs. Davidson in Savannah, Georgia.
Junior Jacob Cronenworth struck out seven over 4.2 innings, the second-highest total of his career, just behind his nine-strikeout performance vs. Maryland (March 28) this season.
Cronenworth was also great at the plate, going 3-for-3 with two runs and three runs batted in, marking his 16th multi-hit game, which is tied for the team lead. He also has six multi-RBI games.
Senior Kendall Patrick set a career high with three hits today, besting his season high of two set six times in his U-M career.
Michigan had three players contribute three hits today, with Jacob Cronenworth, Kendall Patrick and senior Jackson Glines each notching a trio of safties.
