Michigan Head Coach Erik Bakich
On how he felt after winning the tournament ... "I'm so proud. Proud of our kids. Proud of this program. We're standing on 148 years of baseball tradition and a lot of great men, a lot of great teams have come for us, and our guys just wrote a page of their own history, when nobody expected them to do so. That's just awesome. Finding ways to win games, they came in here, starting with the last game against Oklahoma State, and they were just not going to be denied, and they carried that through all week."
On holding up defensively throughout the tournament ... "We didn't necessarily avoid that mistake throughout the season. This has been a season where we dug ourselves a hole, we've had our moments where, early in the year, we started out 2-5 or 0-3 in conference play, where those were learning moments for us and we've been playing better and better since the season went on until now. We feel that we're the most confident that we've ever been. Moments like that, where our guys have already experienced that, they're able to shut down an inning like we did, without letting it get too far out of control. We've had our struggles and our struggles have made us stronger, and a lot of the up and downs has enabled us to get hot at the right time."
On getting the win against his former team ... "I want Maryland to do well. I'll be pulling for them in the regionals. I was pulling for them throughout the regular season, but when it's time to compete, it's time to compete, and your opponent is nameless and faceless. I want those guys to do well. They know that. Those coaches know that."
On preparing for regionals ... "We're going to celebrate this tonight and we're going to enjoy it. Our guys deserve it. Our coaches deserve it. Our coaches' families deserve it, but tomorrow morning it's time to get back to work. We got to figure out what our next steps are, where we're going to go, who we're going to play, and then it's just like we've done all year. The focal point will be on improvement, finding a way to get better."
U-M Junior Infielder Jacob Cronenworth
On winning the tournament ... "It's awesome. We talked about the other day that we wanted to change the 35 to a 36 on the wall and we all had a common goal, and I think that's what helped us with our belief in today's game."
On the depth of the conference ... "The depth is huge. Nebraska's a really good team, and they were the eighth seed, and so was Michigan State. I don't think anybody would've ever expected us to win it all, or even to have us and Maryland in the championship at the same time. I think everyone was kind of hoping for Illinois and thought that they were going to win it all, but the guys here, even the rest of the conference, they showed up and played their A games."
U-M Sophomore Pitcher Brett Adcock
On where this win ranks in terms of baseball moments ... "It's pretty special, especially with our senior class. They got here and hadn't won a championship yet and, to give them this is pretty special to all of us."
On preparing for this game ... "I didn't know until last night that I was starting, so I kind of prepared throughout the week like I was. I stayed with that confidence that I had in the first game and let the defense obviously make plays for me. Couldn't have been here without the defense. Everybody preaches about the good defense every game. I think me preparing the way I did, the defense definitely helped me out and just really helped us out for the rest of the tournament."
U-M Senior Outfielder Jackson Glines
On being so confident all week ... "We had nothing to really lose. We just went out there and played another game. I'm a senior, so I thought I had eight more bats to, essentially, give it my best shot. That mentality went into each at bat and each pitch and we just went out there and played really hard."
