Wolverines at Home
Michigan's senior class has posted a 48-16 record at home over the last three and a half seasons, and will look to finish their careers on a high note when playing inside Cliff Keen Arena. Prior to a loss against Minnesota (Oct. 7), which spoiled the Wolverines' perfect 8-0 home record, Michigan had only lost three sets when playing at home this season. To date, Michigan is 12-3 when playing at home this year.
Michigan under Mark Rosen
The 2017 volleyball campaign marks the program's 45th season and 19th under head coach Mark Rosen. In his time with the Maize and Blue, Rosen has compiled a 381-243 record and has guided Michigan to 15 of its 16 NCAA postseason appearances. Rosen is the winningest coach in program history.
Skjodt Leads the Way
Skjodt has been instrumental in the Wolverines' success this season. The six-rotation player leads Michigan with 3.67 kills per set and has posted 20 double-digit kill efforts this season alone. The Carmel, Indiana, native also ranks second on the team with 2.18 digs per set and led the Wolverines with 17 kills and 12 digs in a 3-0 sweep of Michigan State (Nov. 15).
Lerg Anchors the Back Row
Lerg has been a force in the back row for Michigan this season, and has started and played every set at that position. She leads the Wolverines with 4.12 digs per set and ranks second on the team with 106 assists. Lerg has recorded 23 double-digit dig efforts this season and has led Michigan in digs 24 times. Her season-best performance came in a 3-1 victory over Ohio State (Sept. 29), when she tallied 25 digs.
Kieffer-Wright Solid All Around
Senior middle blocker Claire Kieffer-Wright leads the Wolverines with 1.00 block per set and a .317 hitting percentage. The senior captain has posted 14 double-digit kill efforts this year and has led the Wolverines in blocking 14 times. Additionally, Kieffer-Wright leads the team with 0.28 service aces per set.
Wetterstrom Steps up B1G
Despite a limited role in the first half of the conference schedule, Wetterstrom has recently hit her stride with the Wolverines. The Longmont, Colorado, native totaled nine kills and just one error in a five-set loss at Illinois (Nov. 4), but posted a .615 attack average off the bench. Additionally, two of Wetterstrom's three double-digit kill efforts this season have come against Big Ten opponents, including a career-high 15 kills at a .423 attack percentage in a 3-0 sweep of then No. 8-ranked Michigan State (Nov. 15).
The Big Ten and the AVCA Poll
The Big Ten Conference has six teams represented in the AVCA Top-25 this week. Penn State (1), Nebraska (6), Minnesota (7), and Michigan State (8) all sit inside the top 10, Wisconsin (12) and Purdue (15) round out the group. Illinois is also receiving votes.
