
Wolverines to Conclude Busy Stretch Against North Florida on BTN

» Michigan is concluding a busy stretch of five games in 11 days on Tuesday (Dec. 12) against North Florida. U-M is 4-0 since the stretch began on Dec. 2 at LIU Brooklyn.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 23-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team (8-2) concludes a span of five games in 11 days on Tuesday (Dec. 12), hosting North Florida (5-4) inside Crisler Center at 7 p.m. The game can be seen live on the Big Ten Network. The game is also part of Michigan's "Workweek Hustle" promotion: $5 for a ticket, hot dog and drink with free youth admission for children 18-and-under.
• For the first time since Feb. 28, 2013, U-M won a game in which it did not score 60 points in a 54-41 win over Kent State on Sunday (Dec. 10). The last time Michigan scored in the 50s and picked up a win was against Northwestern, knocking off the Wildcats, 55-50. Rachel Sheffer scored 17, Jenny Ryan had 12 and Nya Jordan chipped in an 11-point, 11-rebound double-double as Michigan held NU to 37.7 percent shooting in the contest. The Maize and Blue actually won five contests that season without reaching 60 points en route to setting a program record for fewest points allowed (average) at 55.4 points per game. Michigan was 0-1 last season when failing to score 60 points.
• Michigan has enjoyed the month of December so far, going 4-0 with wins at LIU Brooklyn (Dec. 2), at Detroit Mercy (Dec. 4), a big home win against Marquette (Dec. 7) and a grind-it-out win over Kent State (Dec. 10). Since the last month of the year began, U-M has reached the 80-point mark in three of its four games. The Maize and Blue is averaging 77.0 points per game on 49.6 percent shooting from the field while holding opponents to 54.0 points on 34.9 percent shooting. The Wolverines have four players scoring in double figures in Katelynn Flaherty (18.3), Hallie Thome (14.5), Nicole Munger (12.3) and Deja Church (11.3) in December.
• Michigan is wrapping up an action-packed two weeks against North Florida, playing its fifth game in the last 11 days. After the game against the Ospreys, Michigan will play just two more non-conference games over the following nine days. U-M will host Fort Wayne on Saturday (Dec. 16) and Delaware State on Dec. 21 to complete the non-conference schedule. The Wolverines will then have a week off before starting Big Ten play by hosting Penn State on Dec. 28.
• Michigan extended its stay in the Associated Press poll to six straight weeks, coming in at No. 23 in this week's poll. U-M is also No. 25 in the RPI.
• North Florida is one of six first-time opponents for the Wolverines during their 13-game non-conference schedule. In addition to the Ospreys, U-M played George Mason, Liberty and LIU Brooklyn for the first time. The Wolverines will also start new series against Fort Wayne and Delaware State to conclude non-conference play.
• North Florida (5-4) is coming off a 77-68 win at Florida A&M on Sunday (Dec. 10) to move over .500 on the season. The Ospreys feature a trio of double-figure scorers in Keonna Farmer (14.4 ppg, 7.7 rpg), Tesh Hanson (12.9 ppg, 8.7 rpg) and Adrienne Jackson (12.1 ppg). UNF averages 67.2 points per game on 38.7 percent shooting while allowing 69.3 points per game to its opponents. It will be the first meeting between North Florida and Michigan.
