PACIFIC PALISADES, Calif. -- The University of Michigan women's tennis team completed action at the Riviera ITA Women's All-American Championships at the Riviera Tennis Club on Friday (Oct. 5).
Michigan's run at the tournament came to a close when senior Kate Fahey fell to No. 11-ranked Carla Touly of Florida State in three sets (1-6, 6-2, 6-3) in the second round of the singles backdraw. Fahey went 1-2 in singles at the event, picking up a three-set win over No. 29 Anna Bright of Cal in the first round of consolation action.
Junior Giulia Pairone won her first two matches during singles qualifying before falling to North Carolina's Alexa Graham in the final round. Pairone picked up a spot in the main draw as a "lucky loser," but lost her first-round match. Pairone also teamed up with senior Brienne Minor in the doubles main draw, but the duo went 0-2 in its first competition together.
Junior Chiara Lommer rounded out Michigan's participants at the event. Lommer dropped a pair of matches during singles qualifying. Lommer and Fahey knocked out the No. 2 seed of Petra Hule and Ana Oparenovic (Florida State) in the first round of doubles qualifying, but fell in the second round to complete their run.
The rest of the Wolverines will continue action at Northwestern's Wildcat Invite on Saturday (Oct. 6).
