
Andrews Signs with Wolverines for 2019

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan water polo head coach Dr. Marcelo Leonardi announced on Monday (Dec. 3) that Australian left-hander Abby Andrews has signed a tender of financial aid and will join the program in January 2019.
"Abby is a baller," said Leonardi. "She has great vision and is an elite left-handed, two-way player. Her leadership, poise, intelligence, maturity and playmaking ability in the water will make her an impact player. We are looking forward to a lot of good things with her this season."

Competed with Brisbane Barracudas and Brisbane Girls Grammar School
Currently attends the University of Queensland, where she was awarded the UQ Blue for Sporting Excellence in 2018 and received Dean's Commendation for academic excellence
Captain of the Born 2000 team at the 2018 Youth World Championships, leading Australia to a fourth-place finish in Belgrade
Member of the Queensland junior teams from 2014-18, including U14, U16, U18 and U20
Toured Europe with the Born 2000 Australia team in 2017
Traveled to South Africa with the U16 Australia team in 2015
Participated with the national team (Aussie Stingers) in test matches against Team USA and Italy
Led the Queensland School Girls team to a second-place finish in 2017
Most Outstanding Player at the Australian School's water polo competition in 2016
Andrews joins goalkeeper Sophie Jackson from Halifax, England, as January enrollees for the 2019 team. Jackson is a member of the England national team and led her team to a gold medal at the U19 EU Nations senior women's tournament last May in Brno, Czech Republic.
