Wolverines Rebound with 4-0 Shutout of Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. -- The No. 10-ranked University of Michigan women's tennis team won the doubles point and the first three singles matches off court in a 4-0 win over host Wisconsin at the ITA National Team Indoor Championship at the Nielsen Tennis Center. Michigan has won at least one match in all nine of its appearances at the national tournament.
Michigan took the doubles point for the second straight match, winning at Nos. 1 and 3.
U-M's No. 3 pair of sophomores Chiara Lommer and Lera Patiuk took a 6-2 win at No. 1 before senior Alex Najarian and junior Kate Fahey sealed the first point of the match with a 6-4 victory at No. 1.
In singles actions, Michigan won four of the first six sets to take control of the team match.
The Maize and Blue won the first three singles matches off court, getting straight-sets wins from Lommer at No. 2, Alex Najarian at No. 5 and Bella Lorenzini at No. 6.
U-M will be back in action on Friday (Feb. 16), when they take on Virginia in Charlottesville, Virginia, at 5 p.m.
