The No. 22-ranked University of Michigan softball team (13-6) will return to the Sunshine State for the third time this season this weekend, when they head to Boca Raton, Florida, for the FAU "Parent's Weekend" Tournament at the Owls' FAU Softball Stadium. The Wolverines will open play on Friday (March 9) against Stony Brook (4-6) at 3:45 p.m. and tournament host Florida Atlantic (11-10) at 6 p.m. The Wolverines will continue with games against Ball State (12-5) at 9 a.m. and Pittsburgh (10-6-1) at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday (March 10) and will wrap play at 11:15 a.m. against Florida A&M (3-6) on Sunday (March 11).
• The Wolverines return to a familiar place in Boca Raton, Florida; this trip marks the 10th to the FAU Tournament since 2004 -- though it will be U-M's first visit since 2014. Michigan owns a 14-2 advantage in the all-time series against the Owls and have won each of the last 10 meetings.
• Michigan's offense came alive at the Judi Garman Classic last weekend (March 1-3). After batting just .243 over the first 13 games of the season, the Wolverines hit .324 -- with a .522 slugging percentage and .391 on-base percentage -- over the five-game appearance in California. U-M boasted 14 extra-base hits, including six home runs, and averaged 5.6 runs per game.
• Junior second baseman Faith Canfield earned Big Ten, NFCA and ESPNW Player of the Week honors after leading the Wolverines with a .579 batting average (11-for-19) en route to five wins at the Judi Garman Classic last weekend (March 1-3). She tallied hits in 11 consecutive at-bats over a four-game stretch, including back-to-back games with four hits -- which tied a career high. She posted a four-hit, one-RBI effort against No. 8 Baylor and, later that day, drove in all of Michigan's runs in a 3-1 win against No. 18 Louisiana Lafayette.
• Senior right-handed pitcher/first baseman Tera Blanco also played a big role in the Wolverines' Judi Garman Classic success, hitting .389 (7-for-18) with a team-best seven RBI. She tallied the walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning against Loyola Marymount and knocked out a three-run homer in the first inning against No. 8 Baylor.
• Blanco also turned in a strong weekend in the circle, posting a 2-0 record with a 0.78 ERA and a .188 opposing batting average. She earned wins against Charlotte and No. 18 Louisiana Lafayette, the latter in relief, with eight strikeouts through nine innings pitched
• Freshman left-hander Meghan Beaubien contributed to four of Michigan's five wins at the Judi Garman Classic, with a 3-0 record and a save -- the first of her collegiate career. She posted a 2.62 ERA with 17 strikeouts and a .167 opposing batting average over 18.2 innings pitched. She earned the complete-game win against No. 8 Baylor, allowing just five hits with five strikeouts. She also entered in the seventh to earn a save against No. 18 ULL, tossing a 1-2-3 inning to close out the game.
