ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Headlined by newly anointed Big Ten Field Athlete of the Week Andrew Liskowitz, the University of Michigan men's track and field team will head to the Toledo Invitational on Thursday and Friday (May 3-4) for one final tune-up opportunity ahead of the start of the postseason next weekend.
Liskowitz is one of 23 Wolverine men setting off to Glass City for one final chance to hone their fitness and competition-readiness with the Big Ten Championships just around the corner on May 11-13 in Bloomington, Indiana.
While the throwing events will be contested Thursday afternoon starting at approximately 2 p.m. for the men, most of Michigan's entrants -- 20 of those 23 Wolverines -- will compete Friday with action both on the track and in the field beginning for U-M just after noon.
Live results for the meet will be available from CFPI Timing as the meet approaches, and fans can always follow the latest updates directly from the program's official social media channels.
Liskowitz, fresh off his school-record shot put performance at the National Relay Championships (a 20.28m -- 66 feet, 6.5 inches -- heave that moved him to No. 3 nationally), will spend Thursday in pursuit of a discus mark closer to his 52.42m (172-0) career best than his season's best of 47.84m (156-11). Teammate Grant Cartwright will do much the same as he looks to improve on his season's best 48.53m (159-3) to something more in the neighborhood of his career-best 58.23m (191-0) from last year's Big Ten meet.
Big Ten Indoor Championships mile scorer Anthony Berry, who will lead a corps of eight men in the 1,500-meter competition, headlines action on the track. With a season's best of 3:47.78, Berry will be looking to dip down into the 3:45s to put himself in position to advance to the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds (top-48-ranked athletes from the East Region in each event).
After Sierra Hendrix-Williams dipped under his 14.37 career-best time in the 110-meter hurdles at the National Relay Championships with a windy 14.28 (+2.4m/s), he could position himself this weekend for a run at the NCAA postseason by dropping less than a quarter second off that time.

MICHIGAN IN THE NCAA EAST RANKINGS
Listed below are all the Wolverine men who are currently ranked among the top-48 individuals in their respective events. Why top 48? That is the cutoff for qualifying to the NCAA East Preliminary Rounds in Tampa, Florida, next month. The NCAA East Prelims serve as the gateway to qualifying for June's NCAA Outdoor Championships in Eugene, Oregon.
Athletes currently ranked top-25 in their events at this point in the season are near-locks to advance to the NCAA East Prelims. Those ranked from that cutoff through No. 40 are on the fence of advancing at this point as marks will continue improving around the nation as the spring progresses, but they would be best served to improve their mark to secure a spot. From there through No. 48, an improved mark will be required to hold on to their top-48 positioning.
