Paced by the play of freshman Ashley Kim and junior Elodie Van Dievoet, the University of Michigan women's golf team faced a challenging nine-tournament schedule and closed the season with a seventh-place finish at the Big Ten Championships.
Team Highlights
• After back-to-back national finals appearances, Michigan entered the 2017-18 season with a challenging eight-tournament regular-season and posted five top-10 finishes and season-best eighth place at the East & West Match Play Challenge (Sept. 17-19) as well as in the Bryan National Collegiate (April 6-8).
• The Wolverines finished with a 298.96 team scoring average, which was just the third time in program history U-M has closed with a sub-300 average. With 13 of 24 rounds below 300, the Maize and Blue carded a season-low 287 (-1) in the second round of the Ruth's Chris Invitational (Oct. 13-15).
• Senior Emily White, junior Elodie Van Dievoet and freshman Ashley Kim were the only Wolverines to start all nine events. White finished her career starting her final 27 straight events, while Van Dievoet has started her last 24 tournaments.
Individual Highlights
• Freshman Ashley Kim showed she belonged all season long, starting all nine events in her first collegiate season. By just a single shot, she was second on the Wolverines with a 75.17 per round average. After leading U-M in four events, she highlighted her season posting a U-M season-best and a career-best 66 (-6) -- tying the second-lowest round in program history -- in the second round of the Ruth's Chris Invitational, where she also tallied a career-best 218.
• After a record-breaking sophomore campaign, junior Elodie Van Dievoet led U-M in scoring for the second straight year with a 75.13 per round average. Producing three top-20 finishes, she led the Wolverines in two events, including the Big Ten Championships (T-19th), along with Kathy Lim.
• Senior Emily White used her experiences to start all nine events in her final season, closing playing in her final 27 straight events. She closed just off her career best producing a 75.67 per-round average. Using a season-low 69 (-3), White set a career-best 144 tally for a 36-hole event in the stroke play portion of the East & West Match Play Challenge.
• Saving the best for last, senior Kathy Lim had a strong final campaign starting seven of eight events, finishing as the individual bracket runner-up at the East & West Match Play Challenge and leading U-M in two events, including the Big Ten Championships (T-19th). She posted the third-best average on the Wolverines with a 75.38 per round score. She tallied a career-best 36-hole tournament total of 146 at the Landfall Tradition (Oct. 27-29) in the weather-shortened event.
• Sophomore Hannah Ghelfi started five of the last six events for the Wolverines including getting the nod for her first Big Ten Championships. She averaged 77.31 per-round average. She tied her career low with a 73 three times -- in the second rounds of the Moon Golf Invitational (Feb. 19-20) and Meadow Club Intercollegiate (March 5-6) and the first round of the Evans Derby Experience (March 18-20).
• Sophomore Alisa Snyder closed her second season playing the in final five tournaments and starting three of her six total events. Setting a career best for scoring average (76.19) she carded a season-low 71 (-1) in the second round of the Big Ten Championships and tallied a career-best 149 36-hole tournament total at the East & West Match Play stroke play qualifier.Honors and Awards
