Junior Maddy Steere has spent the summer traveling the world with the Australia national team.
Steere and the Aussie Stingers started at the FINA World League Super Final in Kunshan, China, starting at the end of May. The team lost a series of close games to Netherlands (5-7), China (6-8) and Spain (9-10) before being eliminated with a 12-1 loss to the United States.
A month later, Steere was part of a 16-member training squad that embarked on a three-week European tour, competing at the Villa De Portugalete tournament in Spain, the Vodafone Cup in Hungary and a week-long training camp in Greece.
The team placed third in Spain, defeating Russia, 10-9, and losing to Greece (7-11) and Spain (8-11). Next up was the Vodafone Cup in Hungary. The team closed with a 14-9 win over Japan after falling to Hungary (8-9) and the United States (4-14). The final week was a training camp in Athens, Greece.
