
Canada Junior Team Member Chun Signs with Michigan Women's Golf

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- University of Michigan women's golf coach Jan Dowling announced today (Thursday, Nov. 14) the signing of Monet Chun to a National Letter of Intent for the 2020-21 season.
"Monet has been competing around the world at the highest level of junior and amateur golf for a very long time," said Dowling. "With her worldwide tournament experience, along with her Team Canada training, it feels like a seasoned veteran is being added to our roster.
"She is committed to excellence and brings a calm demeanor with a high level of maturity and perspective to our team. Monet will positively impact our team both on and off the golf course, and we are excited for her arrival."
"It's an incredible honor to represent the University of Michigan, so I am thrilled to move out to Ann Arbor," said Chun. "I'm very excited to become a Wolverine in the fall, and I'm looking forward to being a part of the team with some of the best coaches and teammates. Hopefully, I will be able to make a positive contribution to the program. It will be a completely new experience."
A three-year member of the Golf Canada Junior National Team, the Richmond Hill, Ontario, native has continued to find success during her junior golf career. In 2019, she advanced to the Round of 32 at the British Girls Junior Championship, posted a third-place finish at the American Junior Golf Association's (AJGC) C.T. Pan Junior Championship, and added a 13th-place finish at the AJGA's Shanshan Feng Girls Invitational and an 18th-place showing at the Canadian Junior Girls Championship.
In her 2018 season, she was the medalist at the AJGA Yolo Fliers Invitational and the Future Links Acura Pacific Championship while earning runner-up honors at the Future Links Acura Ontario Championship. She added third-place finishes at the Mexican Junior Girls Championship and the AJGA's FORE Performance.
Chun won the 2017 Future Links driven by Acura Ontario Championship and added a second title at the Investors Group Ontario Spring Classic. That same summer she was fourth at the Canadian Junior Girls Championship, ninth at the Porter Cup, tied for 15th at the AJGA's ANNIKA Invitational, and 16th in the South American Championship.
The Wolverines lose seniors Hannah Ghelfi and Alisa Snyder to graduation at the end of this season.
