
Beall, Loughman Earn CoSIDA Academic All-District Five First Team Honors

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- Junior Hillary Beall and sophomore Raleigh Loughman of the University of Michigan women's soccer team were two of 13 players named to the 2019 CoSIDA Academic All-District Five first team on Thursday (Nov. 7).
To be eligible, nominated student-athletes must be a starter or important reserve with a minimum 3.30 cumulative grade-point average, in her second year at the current institution and must have played in at least 50 percent of the team's games. Michigan has had at least one student-athlete on the list since 2008.
Honorees selected first-team Academic All-District will advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early December.
The honor marked the first for Beall and Loughman; the duo also earned All-Big Ten honors on Oct. 31. Beall is a communication major, while Loughman is studying business administration.
Beall has started all 19 matches in net for the Wolverines and earned All-Big Ten third team accolades. The junior keeper has a .795 save percentage and has allowed just 15 goals. The Laguna Beach, California, native has made a career-high 58 saves this year and has posted six shutouts, the most recent on Sunday (Nov. 3) in Michigan's 3-0 win over Marylandin in the Big Ten Tournament quareterfinals. Beall also made a career-best 12 saves in Michigan's 2-1 win over then-No. 13 Washington, earning her Big Ten Goalkeeper of the Week accolades.
Loughman has appeared in 18 games (17 starts) and was named to the All-Big Ten second team this season. The sophomore is tied for sixth in the Big Ten with six assists and has scored six goals for a total of 18 points. Loughman also has scored one game-winner and has produced five multi-point games, including a five-point outing (two goals, one assist) at Illinois which earned her Big Ten Offensive Player of the Week honor.
The duo, along the with rest of the No. 3-seeded Michigan squad, will continue play in the Big Ten Tournament on Friday (Nov. 8) when it takes on No. 2-seed Maryland in a semifinal match at 1:30 p.m. in Piscataway, New Jersey. The contest will be broadcast live on Big Ten Network.
