The No. 13-ranked University of Michigan women's lacrosse team will host two games at U-M Lacrosse Stadium this weekend with Kent State in town Friday (March 8) at 5 p.m., and No. 25 Towson on Sunday at 1 p.m.
Finding a Place Among the Nation's Best
• With a program-best seven wins this season, the Wolverines have enjoyed the most success in the six-year history of the program.
• Michigan earned its first appearance in the IWLCA Coaches Poll in week two (Feb. 18) of the season, coming in at No. 25, and has since moved up 12 spots to No. 13 in the latest edition of the poll (March 4).
• The Wolverines also had their first-ever appearance in the US Lacrosse Magazine rankings as they came in at No. 11 in week four of the 2019 campaign.
• Michigan has faced three ranked opponents this season, earning three wins and will face its fourth ranked opponent in No. 25 Towson on Sunday.
Keeping the Streak Alive
• Michigan holds the nation's longest win streak with eight consecutive wins.
• The streak dates back to April 28, 2018, when U-M ended its season with a 12-11 victory over then-No. 16 Penn State, the first win over a ranked team in the history of the program.
• Since that win, Michigan has started the 2019 campaign on a seven-game win streak, including earning wins over three ranked opponents.
• The Wolverines also hold a nation-best seven wins this season and are looking for their program-best eighth win with 10 regular-season games remaining.
Well-Balanced Offense
• The Wolverines have made it hard for the opposition to key in on any one player on the Michigan offense as 13 players have found the back of the net this season.
• In comparison, only 13 players scored in the entire 2018 campaign for the Maize and Blue, and three players made up 48.8 percent of the Michigan offensive production.
• This season, the Wolverine offense has spread the wealth with four players into double-digit scoring and six with two goals or more.
In the U-M Record Book
• Five Wolverines have found themselves in the top five in the Michigan record book following a fast start to the season.
• With her six wins this season, senior goaltender Mira Shane became the program's season and career record holder in wins with 14.
• Senior Adriana Pendino is quickly climbing the career points list as she ranks fifth with 66. Pendino also ranks fifth in career goals, finding the back of the net 60 times.
• Sophomore Caitlin Muir has found her niche as an assist leader for the Maize and Blue, handing out 12, which ranks sixth in a single season. Muir's 24 assists in just her second season rank fourth all-time at U-M.
• Draw control expert junior Molly Garrett needs one more draw control win this season to crack the top 10 in the Michigan record book as she has 24 through the first seven games; she compiled 25 wins over the entire 2018 season. Garrett also ranks third all-time in career draw control victories with 92.
