
Wednesday Visit from Falcons to Kick Off Seven-Game U-M Homestand

• Michigan starts a two-week homestand Wednesday (April 17) when it hosts Bowling Green in a 5 p.m. non-conference game.
• Michigan fell out of the top 25 following a 2-3 record last week.
• There exist numerous fan promotions for the Northwestern series (April 19-21), including a visit with the Easter Bunny on Sunday.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The University of Michigan baseball team (24-11, 5-3 B1G) begins a two-week homestand Wednesday (April 17) with a 5 p.m. non-conference game vs. Bowling Green. The Wolverines will return to the Wilpon Complex, home of Ray Fisher Stadium, Friday (April 19) to start a three-game series vs. Northwestern.
• The Wolverines and the Falcons have met 61 times in program history, with Michigan holding a 46-15 advantage including a three-game sweep during the 2018 season. Bowling Green has not defeated Michigan since the 2014 season.
• The Falcons will enter the week with a 12-19 overall record after getting swept in three games by Miami (Ohio) last weekend. Bowling Green is looking to advance to the NCAA Tournament for the first time since 2013, when the Falcons won the Mid-American Conference Tournament and received the conference's automatic bid.
• Michigan's upcoming seven-game homestand will include Wednesday's midweek game against Bowling Green as well as back-to-back home Big Ten Conference series against Northwestern and Rutgers. The Wolverines are 12-2 when playing at home this season.
• When playing at Ray Fisher Stadium this year, the Maize and Blue offense has combined for a .323 batting average and outscored opponents by 78 runs. The Michigan pitching staff has held opponents to a .213 average and combined for a 2.52 earned run average when inside the Wilpon Complex.
• Michigan is in third place in the Big Ten with a 5-3 record but leads the league with the highest overall win percentage (.686). The Wolverines suffered their first Big Ten series loss at the hands of the Ohio State Buckeyes last weekend after picking up series wins over Michigan State and Minnesota to start the conference portion of the schedule. Michigan was picked by the league's coaches to finish second in the Big Ten this season.
• Sophomore Jesse Franklin knocked his 10th homer of the season in Friday's (April 12) series opener at Ohio State, tying his freshman season total for home runs. His 10 homers on the season rank third in the Big Ten and 30th in the country. He also leads the Big Ten with 28 walks.
• Junior-college transfer Jordan Brewer recently extended his reached-base streak to 26 games with a base hit in the first game of Saturday's (April 13) doubleheader at Ohio State. The outfielder did not play in the final game of the series.
• Four Wolverine players are hitting above the .300 mark, including junior Jordan Brewer (.364), senior Blake Nelson (.333), sophomore Jordan Nwogu (.327) and sophomore Jack Blomgren (.317). Brewer ranks fourth in the Big Ten and in the top 50 in the nation with a .651 slugging percentage. He also ranks second in the conference in RBI (35) and runs scored (35).
• Offensively, Michigan leads the Big Ten in batting average (.287), on-base percentage (.384) and doubles (78). The Wolverine offense also ranks in the top three among conference opponents in total hits, runs, walks, home runs, stolen bases, sacrifice flies and slugging percentage.
• The Wolverines' 3.33 earned run average ranks second in the Big Ten Conference and 20th in the nation. The pitching staff also has combined for a conference-most six shutouts, which ranks tied for fourth in the country.
• Michigan dropped out of the national polls once again following a 2-3 record last week with losses to Indiana State and Ohio State. The Wolverines have been ranked or receiving votes each week dating back to the preseason rankings.
