TORONTO, Ontario -- University of Michigan water polo rising sophomore Ava Morrant was one of 13 athletes named to the Canada World University Summer Games roster on Wednesday (May 29).
The World University Summer Games will take place July 3-14 in Naples, Italy.
Morrant was named to the Junior National Team on May 15, just five days after completing her freshman season with the Wolverines. In her first season at Michigan, she played in 27 games with eight goals, four assists, seven steals and three field blocks.
This will not be the first international competition for Morrant. She helped lead the Canadian 19U national team to a gold medal at the 2018 Pan American Games and a 10th-place finish at the 2018 FINA Youth World Championships. She also earned a bronze medal at the 2017 17U Pan American Games.
Morrant joins University of Michigan swimmer Victoria Kwan as a Canadian representative for the World University Summer Games.
