
U-M to Take Perfect Record to Iowa City in Final Big Ten Dual

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The seventh-ranked University of Michigan women's gymnastics team will compete in its final Big Ten dual of 2020 on Friday, Feb. 14, at 6 p.m. CST in a road meet at Iowa.
Iowa Meet
• No. 7 Michigan will travel to Iowa City to square off against No. 34 Iowa in its final Big Ten conference dual meet of 2020.
• The Wolverines enter the meet with a 6-0 record and 4-0 mark in the Big Ten for a first-place tie with Minnesota. The Hawkeyes are 1-3 in the Big Ten and 4-5 overall.
• U-M is 57-7 all-time against Iowa with 17 straight wins and a 46-2 record since 1991. This will only be the team's third trip to Iowa City since the last loss in 2011. The Wolverines won a Big Ten championship there in 2012 and clinched a Big Ten regular-season title at the Big Five Meet in Iowa City in 2017.
Big Ten Standings
• Michigan and Minnesota are tied at the top of the Big Ten standings with a 4-0 record.
• Nebraska is third in the conference with a 3-1 record, its only loss was to the Wolverines.
• U-M is the only team in the conference still undefeated on the season with a 6-0 record overall.
• After this weekend, Michigan will conclude its Big Ten slate at the Elevate the Stage meet in Toledo on Feb. 22.
Last Time Out
• Michigan posted its top score of the season with a 197.350 against Ohio State.
• The Wolverines had season-high rotation scores on three of the four events. The top score of 2020 was a 49.525 on floor as four straight gymnasts scored 9.900 or better. U-M also topped its season bests on vault (49.350) and bars (49.375).
• Sophomore Natalie Wojcik won the all-around (39.625) as well as bars (9.925) and beam (9.950). She also scored a 9.900 on floor.
• Freshman Sierra Brooks recorded the third-highest score in the NCAA on vault this season with a 9.975. She added a 9.925 on bars, winning both events for the first time in her career. She added a 9.900 on floor.
• Freshman Gabby Wilson picked up her first career win on floor with a 9.950.
• Sophomore Abby Brenner stuck her vault for a second straight week, scoring a 9.900. She also had a career high on floor with a 9.925.
• Senior Lexi Funk scored a 9.900 on beam during her senior recognition night at Crisler Center.
In the Rankings
• Michigan moved up one spot to No. 7 in the Road to National rankings, marking the fourth straight week in the top 10.
• U-M remains one of the top teams nationally on vault at No. 2 overall. It moved up to No. 6 on bars and No. 9 on floor.
• Two Wolverine freshmen are tied for No. 15 on vault as Brooks and Wilson share the 9.875 average. Two straight stuck vaults has Brenner at No. 42 nationally.
• U-M also has three individuals ranked on bars, led by Wojcik at No. 20. Brenner is tied for 36th and sophomore Maddie Mariani is tied for 50th.
• Brooks is tied for 39th on beam and is 24th in the all-around rankings. Wojcik is 29th on floor and 28th in the all-around.
• U-M was ranked No. 6 in the preseason poll and was picked to win the Big Ten Conference.
Scoring Averages
• Michigan is on pace to finish among the top 10 in school history for team scoring average (196.815, 6th), vault (49.265, 3rd), bars (49.260, 3rd), beam (49.015, 8th) and floor (49.275, 8th).
• If the season ended today, Brooks would have the seventh-highest beam scoring average with a 9.845.
Underclassmen Contribution
• Michigan's lineups are filled with freshmen and sophomores. In last week's meet, 19 of the 24 routines were performed by underclassmen.
• Seven gymnasts have competed on vault this season for Michigan and all have been either freshmen or sophomores. The seven young gymnasts have the team ranked No. 2 in the country on the event.
• All six lineups spots on bars have been filled by underclassmen in each of the last three meets.
Home Slate
• The Wolverines have two more home meets in 2020. The next will be held Friday, Feb. 28, at 6:30 p.m. when former U-M gymnast Lindsey Bruck Ayotte ('08) brings New Hampshire to Crisler Center.
