Michigan Upsets No. 2 Oklahoma at Cliff Keen Arena

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The third-ranked University of Michigan men's gymnastics team marked a team score of 416.500 en route to a dominating win vs. No. 2 Oklahoma on Saturday (Feb. 15) inside Cliff Keen Arena. The Wolverines' team score is their highest of the season and ranks as the third-highest in the country. The win is the first victory over Oklahoma in a dual meet since the 2007 season.
Both junior Cameron Bock (still rings, parallel bars) and freshman Paul Juda (high bar, all-around) won multiple event titles on the afternoon.
Starting off the day on floor exercise, the Wolverines (9-0)Â scored a 69.400. The team was led Juda's 14.550. Junior James Read also finished fifth for Michigan, scoring a 14.100. U-M led by 4.300 points after the first rotation.
The second rotation saw Michigan score a 67.950 on pommel horse. Leading the Wolverines was senior Mack Lasker who won the event with a 14.05. The Sooners countered with a 71.150 on floor exercise to trim the U-M lead to 1.100 points.
On still rings, Michigan scored a 68.850 behind Bock, who scored a 14.55. For the moment, the Wolverines fell behind in the meet by 1.850 points, as Oklahoma (8-2) excelled on the vault table with a 71.800 score.
Michigan took the lead for good in the fourth rotation, scoring a 70.650 on vault. The Wolverines were paced by junior Nick Guy, who marked a 14.650 to come in second in the event. U-M added to the lead on parallel bars, scoring a 70.750, with Bock marking the event win with a 14.750. The Sooners scored a paltry 65.650 on high bar to counter, and trailed by a 7.100 margin going into the final rotation.
Michigan closed out the victory on high bar with a team score of 68.900 and won the meet by a margin of 7.600. Juda won the event for the Wolverines posting a score of 14.400.
Oklahoma was led by Vitaliy Guimares, who won both floor exercise (14.55) and vault (14.70).

Next up, both Bock and Juda will compete in the USA Gymnastics sanctioned Winter Cup Challenge from Thursday through Saturday (Feb. 20-22) at the Westgate Hotel in Las Vegas, Nevada.
