
Bock, Juda Advance to Winter Cup Challenge Finals

LAS VEGAS, Nev. -- Junior Cameron Bock and freshman Paul Juda of the University of Michigan men's gymnastics team took part in the Winter Cup Challenge prelims on Thursday (Feb. 20) at the Westgate Resort & Casino. Juda is eighth in the all-around standings (81.650), while Bock is tied for 13th (81.250) in the USA Gymnastics-sanctioned event.
Based off the USA Gymnastics 10-Point scoring system that awards points for top-10 event finishes, both Wolverines advanced to Saturday's (Feb. 22) finals, with action set to commence at 7:30 p.m. PST. Final rankings will be determined using combined two-day scores.
Juda's effort was highlighted by a third-place finish on vault (14.300) and a fourth-place tie on high bar (13.650). Bock placed in the top 10 on three events, as he marked a 14.350 on floor exercise to place third, a 14.050 on still rings for seventh, and a 13.850 on parallel bars to tie for ninth.
Michigan alumni Sam Mikulak and Adrian de los Angeles also advanced to the finals. Mikulak took first in the all-around (86.800), with wins on floor exercise (14.600), parallel bars (15.350) and high bar (14.350). De los Angeles scored a 63.850 in the all-around, highlighted by a 14.050 on floor exercise for a fifth-place finish.
In the USAG 10-point results, which are also used to determine national team members at the conclusion of the event, Mikulak qualified first with 44 points, Juda was tied for eighth (16 points), Bock sat in 11th (15), and de los Angeles was 21st (six).
