Michigan tallied four shots in the first half but was unable to put any on goal as three of them were blocked inside the 18-yard box. The Zips had one solid chance in the 26th minute but Finnerty was there to make the diving save and keep the match scoreless heading into the halftime break.
Uriel Zeitz had the first shot on goal for the Maize and Blue in the 51st minute and Michael Leon followed with a quality chance of his own but both were knocked away, keeping the match tied at 0-0.
The Wolverines came close to taking the go-ahead goal in the second half when Blevins struck from the right side of the field and fired a shot off the far left post in the 86th minute, but neither team could find a goal in the closing four minutes of play and the match went to overtime.
Junior Inaki Rodriguez attempted the golden goal in the first overtime period with a shot on frame, but it proved to be the only opportunity in the final two overtime periods for the Wolverines. Rodriguez was the only player for either team to put a shot on goal in overtime and the match ended in a scoreless draw.
