Four Double-Digit Scorers Power U-M Past UMass Lowell

» Maddie Nolan hit a career-best six triples on 6-for-7 shooting from long range, finishing with 18 points. Naz Hillmon had 19, Emily Kiser recorded the first double-double of her career with 13 points and 11 rebounds, and Danielle Rauch scored in double figures for the first time with 10 points.

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The No. 13-ranked University of Michigan women's basketball team had double-digit scoring efforts from Naz Hillmon, Emily Kiser, Maddie Nolan and Danielle Rauch in a 73-54 win over UMass Lowell to move to 3-0 on the season on Tuesday evening (Nov. 16) at Crisler Center.
Kiser turned in the first double-double of her career with 13 points and 11 rebounds, also while drawing three offensive fouls on the River Hawks. Hillmon turned in 19 points on 8-for-12 shooting with six boards in just 26 minutes, with Rauch reaching double figures for the first time by recording 10 points, six boards and six assists. Nolan was 6-for-7 from three-point range, finishing with 18 points on her career-best six treys to become the eighth different Wolverine to hit at least six in a game.
Michigan hit a season-high eight triples in the contest on 47.1 percent shooting (8-for-17) and held a 38-35 advantage on the glass.
Michigan was in an early 7-2 hole before Nolan hit back-to-back triples and then found Kiser on a slip for a 10-7 lead on the strength of an 8-0 run at the 6:12 mark of the first quarter.
At the media timeout of the first quarter with 3:59 remaining, the officials reviewed a shot on Michigan's first play that was originally waved off. It was indeed good for Nolan's third triple of the period, pushing Michigan's lead to 18-12.
Michigan led 23-17 at the end of the first quarter, but UMass Lowell trimmed the Maize and Blue lead to just four, 25-21, with 6:27 to play in the second period.
The Wolverines scored six straight to push their lead back to 10, 31-21, after a Hillmon putback with 3:04 on the second-quarter clock. U-M allowed just five points the rest of the way, yielding just nine UMass Lowell points in the frame.
Michigan hit the break with a 39-26 lead, courtesy of nine points each from Hillmon, Kiser and Nolan.
U-M opened the third on a 9-2 run on a pair of buckets from Hillmon, a nifty layup from Michelle Sidor and a Nolan triple in transition to push the lead to 20, 48-28, with just over three minutes elapsed.
The Wolverines kept the pace up, scoring 11 unanswered points for a 59-28 lead, capped by a Rauch triple at the top of the key from Elise Stuck. U-M held UMass Lowell to its second single-digit quarter, allowing just seven points for a 64-33 lead after 30 minutes of action.
Michigan's lead never dipped below 19 points the rest of the way, recording the 73-54 win to move to 3-0 for the fourth straight season.
Michigan hits the road for the first time this season, traveling to Central Michigan on Saturday (Nov. 20) for a 1 p.m. tip with the Chippewas.
