Michigan Divers to Compete for Points at Big Ten Diving Championships

Select divers from the University of Michigan men's and women's swimming and diving teams will compete in the diving-only portion of the Big Ten Championships, held Thursday through Saturday (Feb. 25-27) at the Morgan J. Burke Aquatic Center in West Lafayette, Ind.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, diving is being held separate from swimming this year. Points scored over the three days in West Lafayette will be factored into the team races. The Big Ten Women's Championship runs from Tuesday through Saturday (Feb. 23-27) in Minneapolis, Minn., while the men's championship runs from March 2-6 in Columbus, Ohio.

Big Ten Championships History
Men: In the diving events, Michigan has won 19 conference titles across all boards. Last year, Ross Todd was Big Ten Diver of the Year and Big Ten Co-Diver of the Championships after winning one-meter, finishing second on three-meter and third on platform. Prior to Todd, the last U-M diver to win a conference title on any board was Jason Coben (one-meter and platform in 2004). The last man to win three-meter was Matthew Chelich in 1979.

Women: The Wolverines have not crowned a diving champion in any of the three events since Cinnamon Woods on platform in 1994. The Michigan women's divers accounted for 195 points at the 2020 Big Ten Championships, third-most of any school. Last year, Christy Cutshaw (platform), Allie Klein (one-meter) and Nikki Canale (one-meter, three-meter) made event finals.
