Michigan Wins Big Over No. 10 Minnesota on Senior Day

ANN ARBOR, Mich. -- The second-ranked University of Michigan men's gymnastics team improved its hold on the Big Ten standings with a resounding 412.800-384.400 win over No. 10 Minnesota on Sunday (March 14) inside Cliff Keen Arena.
With the victory, U-M sits in the driver seat for the Big Ten regular-season title with two Big Ten meets remaining. Michigan moves to 6-0 overall and 5-0 in Big Ten competition with the win, earning a team score of 412.800 and winning all six team events. Michigan's seniors came out strong on senior day, with senior Cameron Bock winning pommel horse, parallel bars and sharing the event title on still rings with senior James Read. Senior Nick Guy won floor exercise and junior Paul Juda claimed the titles on vault and high bar.
U-M opened the meet on floor exercise, scoring a 69.050 behind Guy (14.250). Also leading Michigan were senior Jacob Moore (14.150) and sophomore Adam Wooten (13.650). After floor exercise, U-M held a commanding lead over Minnesota that they would hold on to for the rest of the afternoon.
In the second rotation, U-M marked a 68.150 on pommel horse. Bock won the event with a score of 14.200, while sophomore Markus Shears scored a career-high 14.050 to finish second. Juda came in third with a 14.000.
The third rotation saw U-M score a 69.500 on still rings, led by event-winners Read and Bock (14.300). The score was a career high for Read. Moore finished in third with a 13.750.
U-M scored a 70.950 on vault in the fourth rotation, the team's highest event score of the day. Pacing the Wolverines was event-winner Juda (14.700) and Guy (14.600) who finished second.
In the fifth rotation, U-M scored a 67.450 on parallel bars. Bock won the event with a score of 14.550. Freshman Evgeny Siminiuc scored a 14.100 to come in second place, and Juda scored a 13.500, good for third.
To close out the day, U-M earned a 67.700 on high bar behind event-winner Juda, who scored a career-high 14.550.
Moore won the all-around with a score of 81.900 and was awarded the Newt Loken Award for his performance on the day.
Six members of U-M's senior class competed on the afternoon with Moore, Bock, Guy, Anthony Tawfik, Thomas Paul and Justin Murphy.
