Wolverine Bites
• Michigan (10-4, 4-0 B1G) has won five straight matches after rallying for a 4-3 win at Wisconsin on Sunday (March 27). It is Michigan's longest winning streak of the season.
• U-M is one of three unbeaten teams in Big Ten action at 4-0, joining Northwestern (4-0) and Ohio State.
• Michigan is back in the top 25 of the ITA team rankings this week, coming in at No. 19. Michigan was No. 26 in last week's edition.Â
• Michigan has found ways to get it done this season without winning the doubles point, winning both matches over the weekend after falling in a 1-0 hole. U-M has won five matches this season without securing the match's first point, going 5-4 without it. Michigan has wins over Georgia Tech, Cal, Columbia, Minnesota and Wisconsin after falling behind early.
• U-M now has three players in the 20-win club in Julia Fliegner (23), Nicole Hammond (20) and Jaedan Brown (20). Kari Miller is one win away from joining, with Andrea Cerdan just three victories away from getting to 20.
• Michigan has three ranked singles players in the latest ITA rankings in No. 11 Kari Miller, No. 73 Jaedan Brown and No. 102 Nicole Hammond. Brown and Andrea Cerdan team up to form the No. 74-ranked doubles duo.
• No. 8 Ohio State (10-4, 3-0 B1G) features three ranked singles players in No. 8 Irina Cantos Siemers, No. 26 Isabelle Boulais and No. 60 Sydni Ratliff, with Ratliff and Cantos teaming up to form the No. 18-ranked doubles team. The teams split a pair of meetings in the regular season last year, with each school winning on the road. OSU and U-M are two of three remaining unbeaten teams in Big Ten play.
• Penn State (7-8, 1-3 B1G) will host Michigan State prior to welcoming Michigan. U-M swept a pair of matches from PSU last season.
• Michigan will see a familiar face against Penn State, with Wolverine great Ronit (Yurovsky) Parker serving as an assistant coach for the Nittany Lions. Yurovsky was a four-time All-Big Ten performer at Michigan and earned All-America honors during her final season in Ann Arbor (2015-16). She served as Michigan's volunteer assistant coach during the 2018-19 season.
• U-M is 141-7 (.952) in Big Ten regular-season play under head coach Ronni Bernstein. She has led the Wolverines to nine of the last 11 Big Ten championship titles awarded (no title awarded in 2020), as well as three tournament crowns since taking over prior to the 2007-08 season.
• Michigan head coach Ronni Bernstein, who is in her 15th season in Ann Arbor, became Michigan's all-time winningest coach earlier this season. Bernstein is up to 295 victories at Michigan following a 2-0 weekend. In addition, Bernstein can become the first coach to win 300 matches at Michigan with five more wins this season.
• U-M wraps up a five-match road swing next Saturday (April 9) at Michigan State.
